Zell am See

Zell am See is located in the middle of Austria. It is about 150km South-East of Munich in Germany. It is also close to Salzburg, about a 1.5 hour drive. Salzburg is the easiest access into Zell am See, taking a flight from a major European city. There's a train directly from Salzburg station to Zell am See train station. Zell am See is joined up with the mountain of Kaprun, which is just a little bit up the road.

Town Layouts

The town of Zell am See is located on the giant and quite good-looking lake of Lake Zell. There are three small town areas. Kaprun is basically only hotels and lodges and is to the north. The mountain of Kaprun is not connected to the Zell am See mountain so you need to take the bus if you want to connect up. The second town is Schuttdorf and is a sort of midway point between Kaprun and Zell am See. There is a lift here to take you up to the mountain of Zell am See, but is also basically just hotels. Zell am See is the main town with bars, supermarkets and the rest. It's a nice little town with its own medieval centre and charm, but it is small.

The three are connected by buses as well as a train line.
